Translation by Asta McCarthy:
One of these many farce kings was Eduard Jacobson, born on Nov. 10, 1833, in Gross Strehlitz in Upper Silesia as the son of a rabbi, and deceased on Jan. 29,1897, in Berlin. During 40 years of writing, partly on his own, partly in cooperation with O.F.Berg, O. Girndt, G. von Moser, Julius Rosen, Rudolf Kneisel, and others, he wrote quite a number of one-act song comedies, far more than 100. Most of them crossed all German stages and still today are largely maintaining their place among the repertoires. Among the farces are 'Singvögelchen'......[list of creative works]
Already i 1886, Jacobson celebrated the anniversary of his 100th piece for the stage 'An Established Man'. On the occasion of this event, the 'Neue Allgemeine Zeitung' ( the New General Newspaper) wrote very fittingly:
"Only who knows the theater well is capable of judging what an enormous amount of work, diligence, and inventiveness is collected in hundred of such works. Just as not all children turn out perfect, so Jacobson among the products of his mind has some pieces of fruit to show that, despite all the love with which his paternal care equipped them, could not reach favor with the audience and could only carry on their missed existence in theater libraries;

Translation by Asta McCarthy:
Jacobson, Eduard, was born on Nov. 10, 1833, at Gross Strehlitz in Upper Silesia. He visited the gymnasium at Oels from 1846 -1850, and then went to the gymnasium in Ostrowo until the fall of 1854, whereupon he went to Berlin to study Medicine until 1858, and made his M.D. at the beginning of 1850 [sic] From then on, Jacobson stayed in Berlin. Already as a student, he wrote his first piece for the theater, the well-liked farce 'Faust und Gretchen', produced on April 21, 1856. From then on he provided German stages with a row of song comedies and farces, [list of creative works]

This collection includes first hand descriptions written by audience members. One caveat: some of these may have been promotional blurbs rather than actual accounts by audience members. Still, it's interesting to consider how these possibly "fake" reports fanned interest in Pastrana's performances.

Pastrana's importance in scientific discussions and as a historical figure
Description
An account of the resource
Pastrana was often marketed as being an important link between human and animal. Doctors conducted intrusive examinations of her body, writing letters that proclaimed her importance as a figure of scientific study. Pastrana also reflects some of the anxieties of her historical moment--a time when the Industrial Revolution and the Mexican American War created instability in the U.S. This collection will feature documents that suggest her importance in scientific and historical conversations.
