Jacobson, Eduard, was born on Nov. 10, 1833, at Gross Strehlitz in Upper Silesia. He visited the gymnasium at Oels from 1846 -1850, and then went to the gymnasium in Ostrowo until the fall of 1854, whereupon he went to Berlin to study Medicine until 1858, and made his M.D. at the beginning of 1850 [sic] From then on, Jacobson stayed in Berlin. Already as a student, he wrote his first piece for the theater, the well-liked farce 'Faust und Gretchen', produced on April 21, 1856.
